Attending
my first CES Fireside was an experience I will never forget.
Who was
able to attend? What did you think of it?
Sister
Dalton gave powerful direction to what the Young Adults of this generation can
do to strengthen this nation and bring about a return to virtue.
Here are
some of my thoughts or notes that I wrote while attending at the Marriott
Center:
D&C
9:7-9 is the place to look in the scriptures for help in making decisions.
- A way
that we can know if the decision we made is right is from a burning in our
bosom, or a feeling that it is right. We will be filled with comfort and peace.
D&C
8:2
- We will
receive our answers in our mind and in our hearts by the Holy Ghost
Now is
the time to form eternal habits.
We must
awake and arise and without tarrying, come to Zion!
Our
individual journeys to Zion require that we give up and leave behind all our
sins.
D&C 115:5-6
- Now is the time to 'Arise and shine forth that [our] light may be a standard unto the nations!'
- Now is the time to lay hold on every good thing, and touch not the evil thing!
Virtue begins in the heart and mind.
Virtue is inseparably connected with Chastity.
Virtue heals and strengthens us.
Priesthood power is a type of virtue (see Mark 5:25-34, or more specifically vs. 30)
We have been given the opportunity to become saviors on Mount Zion.
We live in an age where much has been given us, more than in any previous generation or dispensation, and thus much is required of us.
We must be pure and holy to receive the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
We have been sent to this earth to not only accomplish a mission but to make a difference in the lives and world around us.
We cannot have purity or spirituality without virtue.
Our goal is to become and be known as the generation of purity and strength!
Steps to success:
1. It is imperative that we rely upon the Holy Ghost
-- we can be purified through its influence
2. Seek companionship of virtuous friends over virtual friends
-- We must become our list of the characteristics and traits that we desire in our future spouse
3. Make a plan of strict training to follow daily:
-- Daily Prayer
-- Be places where we can hear the spirit and listen to its promptings
-- Read at least 5 mins of the Book of Mormon Daily
-- Smile, and remember who we are as children of God
4. Step out of our comfort zones and press forward with a perfect brightness of hope
--The Lord takes his chosen people out of their comfort zones
--The Lord will prepare us and prepare a way for us
-- We cannot be spectators or critics
Captain Moroni lived in a world where danger surrounded him and people were being poisoned by degrees, yet despite the wickedness that surrounded him he was not tolerant of it, nor just a spectator, he was one who was willing to arise and stand forth to unfurl his banner, the Title of Liberty, and bring a return of righteousness into the world.
-Alma 48:17
